Renee Good didn’t expect to die. Alex Pretti didn’t either. None of us knows when it may be our moment to dace an early death at the hands of poorly trained and immorally led ICE agents.
Our country is at a critical moment. Trump will do everything he can to remain in power, even perhaps calling off the midterms elections in his self-created emergency.
I protest every week against the direction out country is taking — away from democracy, away from our shared values, away from respecting he rights of every person to life. liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Perhaps I will face off with ICE agents as Renee and Alex had to. If so, the administration will spin andy encounter so I’m labeled as a terrorist of paid activist who wanted to harm Americans — all lies and propaganda.
I served this country abroad in the Peace Corps. I served this country abroad as a diplomat. I am not proud of our country now. We are better than this. We need everyone to stand up and say what is happening is wring and un-American. Silence is not the option.
