The corrupt, disgraceful, & incompetent Governorship of Ron DeSantis & the GOP controlled State Legislature in Tallahassee have been a disaster for the State of Florida.
• DeSantis fought against mask mandates & vaccines which resulted in 89,000 deaths in Florida from Covid-19 (third worst in the nation).
• DeSantis banned abortion at 15 weeks when he signed HB 5 on April 14, 2022, and then banned it at 6 weeks the following year when he signed SB 300 into law on April 13, 2023.
• DeSantis signed HB 543 into law on April 3, 2023, which allows the carrying of concealed handguns without a permit. It has been a factor in the increasing of gun crimes in FL.
• On May 15, 2023 DeSantis signed SB 266 into law which banned & defunded DEI policies & programs at FL State universities & colleges. The hostility that DeSantis has shown to racial minorities caused the NAACP to issue a travel advisory warning against traveling to FL.
• Instead of simply following the law, and resigning his office as Governor to run for President, DeSantis had the legislature repeal the “resign to run” law which DeSantis quickly signed (SB 7050) on May 24, 2023. He announced his presidential campaign after signing it.
• On June 29, 2023, DeSantis signed HB 1191 into law, which allowed the cancer causing substance Phosphogypsum (which contains radon & uranium) to be used in the construction of roads in FL.
• DeSantis signed HB 1645 into law on May 15, 2024, which removed all mention of climate change from FL State Statutes & FL agency rules. The bill even eliminated a grant program that helped cities cut carbon emissions.
• DeSantis banned the use of flouride in the state’s water system when he signed SB 700 on May 15, 2025. The result will be that Florida’s water will be less healthy to drink and use.
• The percentage of Floridians lacking health insurance has consistently been over 10%. His party now supports passing the “Big Beautiful Bill” currently being debated in the U.S. Senate. This bill would carve $1 TRILLION from Medicaid, putting millions of Americans out of the healthcare system, causing rural hospitals and care centers to close, and literally taking food from the mouths of underprivileged children. In doing so, the GOP has insured that tax cuts for million & billionaires stay intact. In fact, they voted against several different Democrat proposed amendments saying exactly that.
• The number of people fleeing Florida has been increasing as the state’s lack of job opportunities & house insurance crisis have made living there unsustainable (especially among 20-29 year olds).
• The number of people leaving Florida by year:
2021 – 469,577
2022 – 489,905
2023 – 511,000
