Crime - Dems Secure millions in funding to strengthen public safetyThis year, House and Senate Democrats have secured nearly $400 million to fund public safety projects in their states and districts, with Republicans coming in a distant second with only $272 million.

According to the independent Pew Research Center in an article published in April, U.S. violent and property crime rates have plunged since the 1990s, regardless of the data source, with the FBI showing a 59% reduction in the U.S. property crime rate between 1993 and 2022.

Although 2020 saw the largest single-year increase on record for murder, preliminary data for 2023 suggests that the murder rate fell substantially last year.

Democrats continue to fund violence intervention and youth outreach programs, they improve mental health and substance use services, and work to fund training and hiring law enforcement, upgrading police equipment and forensic technology.

Although GOP candidates rant and rave about Democratic cities and crime, the real numbers show the Democrats have consistently been on the side of law and order and protecting the people through words, funding and deeds, resulting in dramatically lower crime numbers in blue states. The fact remains that the murder rates in the 25 states that voted GOP in 2020 has surpassed the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Dems in every year from 2000 to 2020. When combined, the per capita Red State murder rate was 23% higher than the Blue State rate when all years were combined.
