Over 400 Harris supporters turned out in downtown Ocala for the largest support of democracy in the history of Marion County

Coordinated by the Ocala/Marion County For Harris Facebook group, the September 28th rally was over two months in the making and saw nearly 500 people sign up to participate, with many supporting the event with donations for signs, water and more. The Marion County DEC hosted a sign making afternoon at the headquarters that hosted dozens of creative pro-democracy volunteers who created handmade signs for the event, including a huge “Be the Wave—Harris Walz” sign that captured the attention of every passer by.

The positive recognition by the vehicles driving by the rally was overwhelmingly in favor, with many honks, waves and thumbs up. Although a small contingent of less than 10 people did show up to support the other team with a “TRUMP KENNEDY” flag on one corner of the square for about 30 minutes and a few signs that appeared to be hastily made at the last minute. The lack of conflict and positive vibe of the afternoon was certainly a testiment to the success of the rally team to keep things under wraps and “trending blue” right up until the day of the event.

The group will be providing any dates and locations of sign or flag waving events throughout Marion County as they become aware.
