Attend the Marion County School Board Meeting TOMORROW on Thursday, December 15th at 9AM to let them know you do NOT want the Sheriff’s Office taking over security in our schools.

The Marion County School Board is meeting tomorrow morning and will be addressing the School Safe Agreement. This is the Agreement proposed by Sheriff Billy Woods to take over security in the Marion County schools. The Marion County Democratic Party is opposed to the Sheriff’s Office taking over school security and is asking Democrats to attend the School Board meeting to show opposition.

The meeting is tomorrow morning at 9 am and will take place at 1614 East Fort King Street in Ocala.

CLICK HERE to read/print the letter from Sheriff Billy Woods to the School Board proposing the take-over, and CLICK HERE to read/print his proposed Agreement. It is the intention of Sheriff Woods to take the employees of the Safe Schools Department and make them fully sworn deputy sheriffs with full arrest powers. We believe that the currently structured Safe Schools Department is working, and that the Sheriff’s Office does not need more control in our schools.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss the matter further, please contact the Marion County Democratic Party at: contact@mariondems.org.
