Senate Bill 48 & House Bill 887 Propose Legislation for Guardianship Reform in Florida

It is rare for the Florida House and Senate to propose legislation that can genuinely help its citizens. Senate Bill 48 and House Bill 887 – if passed in 2024 – will offer more rights and protections to elderly and incapacitated Florida citizens of all ages.

Briefly, the bills will update guardianship appointment petition processes, address alternative guardianship options, add requirements for full re-evaluation of the need for guardianship after certain periods of time, and establish visitation rights for the families of minors and incapacitated persons.

Kat Duesterhaus, Legislative Director of Florida NOW, invites you to learn about these new bills and how you can help support their passage in 2024. This free virtual training will be facilitated by Rick Black, Director of the Center for Estate Administrative Reform (CEAR).

The virtual meeting will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 7 to 8 p.m. Click here for the Zoom meeting link.
