Danielle Hawk appointed as FL Dem Campaign Committee Chair
Congratulations to Danielle Hawk, the newly appointed Campaign Committee Chair for the Florida Democratic Party! Danielle ran a strong campaign in 2022 for Congress, and did it with literally no support from the FLDems, after earning the backing of almost 70% of Dems in her District. Newly elected Florida Dems Chair, Nikki Fried, found a motivated spirit in Hawk for this important position, recognizing that— 11 out of 40 State Senate seats went uncontested 35 out of 120 State House seats went uncontested Hundreds of local races for our school boards, city councils, and county commissions went uncontested. These two strong women will insure that Florida Dems won't go unnoticed in the 2024 election cycle and will be strongly supported by the state. Both are also pledging to recruit and support candidates going forward. We appreciate their forward thinking and we're ready to get to work!
Nikki Fried to Lead Florida Dems
Former Florida Agricultural Commissioner and the last Florida Democrat to win a statewide office, Nikki Fried was overwhelmingly elected to lead as Party Chair last Saturday afternoon with 52% of the vote. Fried faces a challenge as Dems in Florida lost significantly in the recent midterm elections, in spite of their success nationwide. Announcing she will commit to rebuilding the Democratic party from the group up and rededicating it to voter registration, training and growing progressive coalitions, Fried said, "We have to unite our diverse voices and refocus on the issues and grassroots organizing that wins elections." Marion County Democratic Party invites you to join the revitalization of this important perspective. Participate, voice your support of Democratic platforms, reach out to your representatives. Together, we can build a better Florida. Visit FloridaDems.org for more information about the Democratic Party in Florida, and subscribe to our newsletter and attend our...
