Kamala Harris makes history

“On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination to be President of the United States of America.”

—Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States & 2024 Democratic Nominee for President

As former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau put so eloquently, “With this election, our nation has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism, and divisive battles of the past. A chance to chart a New Way Forward. Not as members of any one party or faction, but as Americans.”

Kamala Harris is the hammer. We are the muscle. We need to get behind our Democratic candidates and give her the muscle she needs to carry America forward in 2025 and beyond.

If you didn’t watch the Democratic National Convention this past week in Chicago like many of us political junkies, you really missed a party. The joy, the excitement, the enthusiasm was loud and proud every moment of this event, which was watched by over 20 million viewers every night. In contrast, the Republican National Convention held just a few weeks ago drew barely 18 million pairs of eyes. But most importantly, a younger subset of the audience has grown virtually every night, according to Nielsen data, as the audience aged 18 to 34 grew 13.5% from Monday to Wednesday.

Tuesday night of the convention delivered a 41% larger audience than the second night of this year’s Republican National Convention, which was down in viewers from its first night, in spite of appearances by some of the most MAGA-heavy figureheads. The 2024 RNC went on to improve slightly on Night 3 and peak on Night 4 when former president Donald Trump spoke to a TV audience of 25.3 million.

The last night of the DNC featured entertainers like The Chicks and pop sensation P!nk (who was accompanied by her 12 year old daughter), as well as Democratic and Republican luminaries that included Gabby Giffords, Senator Mark Kelly, Governor Roy Cooper, House Rep Colin Allred, House Rep Ruben Gallego, Actress Eva Longoria, and Michigan’s popular Governor Gretchen Witmer. One of the most inspiring speeches was offered up by Country 1st founder and former Illinois U.S. House Representative Adam Kinzinger, who was an outspoken member of the January 6 Hearing and called on his peers to join him in supporting the Harris/Walz ticket. Watch or listen to Adam’s speech here.

The week ended on Thursday night, when Kamala Harris capped it off with a banger of an acceptance speech. You won’t want to miss it! We’ll edit this article to include the final Nielsen ratings when they’re available.
