by Marion Ann Lambert, North Marion Precinct Lead

On Saturday, May 18th, Maggie Kotuk and Mary Ann Lambert hosted a lunch meet and greet for Representative Yvonne Hinson. Representative Hinson is running for re-election to the Florida State House, District 21. This will be her third term.

The lunch was attended by 27 North Marion County precinct captains, voter coaches, active Democrats and our coordinated campaign chair, Sheila Loughlin.

Mayor JiJi Williams and the Honorable Judy Galloway of the Micanopy town council joined us. They thanked us for helping them become the first Black ladies on the council. Rep Hinson spoke about the struggle she and her few Dem colleagues have working with the Republican supermajority. We always appreciate Representative Hinson’s strong voice for us in the State House! There was a lot of discussion about the need to get young people involved.

Representative Hinson received enough campaign contributions to fund her qualifying fee. It was an uplifting event for all and we encourage Marion County Democrats to strongly support this fighter for the people of Florida as she seeks her next term in Tallahassee.
