Dunnellon city officials recently advertised the position as available a month after the unexpected resignation of Mayor Bill White.
You must be a Dunnellon city resident and applications are due to the clerk’s office by noon, February 27th. Council members are expected to pick someone at their next meeting in March. The council meets monthly.
The new mayor will serve the remaining two years of White’s term, who was elected in 2020. The mayor has a vote on the five-member council. Before becoming mayor, White served on the city council.
According to the Ocala StarBanner, a recent workshop on how to proceed with the mayor vacancy, council members declined to have a special election, which could run close to $5,000.
