Our great nation was founded on the force and focus of the words above. The Marion County Democratic Party embraces and upholds this mission for our government and its leaders at every level of American society.

The Democrats have been those leaders who have uniquely advanced our nation and its interests, recognizing the needs of all people for basic human rights; dignity, peace, security, justice, fairness, and, in general, the opportunity of each individual to realize their promise as contributors to our society’s strength and well-being. We believe the greatness of our nation, our state, and our community is anchored in these essential values.

Locally, about 20 years of Republican political dominance have brought Marion County an abysmal morass of problems. Every aspect of county infrastructure is at or approaching crisis. At the state level, in Tallahassee, there is an appalling indifference to citizens and their local communities. The disregard for intelligent planning, the absence of vision, the policies formed by ideology, and the simple inability to govern effectively makes it clear that new leadership is an urgent necessity at every level of government.

Working together, Democrats can change the political direction from the “same-old boys, same-old ways” to promising new approaches, ideas, and perspectives.
